Situated in Cookham Dean, Berkshire, United Kingdom, this bright contemporary residence was designed by Spratley Studios Architects and Pascoe Interiors.
Description by Spratley Studios Architects
After requesting a kitchen design from Clare Pascoe, the Clients were impressed by her equal passion and knowledge of mid-century furniture; and from this meeting of minds invited Clare to pitch on the full interior design project, knowing that Clare’s signature Vintage Contemporary style was a perfect look to realise their vision for the new property.
As the family had specific ideas on how most rooms were to be used, and the identity they were to adopt as a result, Clare designed schemes & furniture layouts to achieve the best combination to meet their current requirements and to future proof the interior for their growing needs. This involved blending reworked existing pieces of furniture with Mid Century and new contemporary elements from Best of British Designer Makers to create a clean, cohesive and individual interior.
The most striking aesthetic element of this project is the use of Mid Century furniture, that is sympathetically reupholstered in a bold palette of textural fabrics that are largely from British Mills, against a crisp cream gallery style back drop. Window treatments are kept to a minimum, to simply control light. The two girls room by contrast represent their individual characters with their vibrant and eclectic mix of colours and accessories.
This project is a perfect example of the results that can be achieved when Client, Architect (Spratley Studios) & Designer work in total harmony and collaboration, supporting and trusting one another implicitly during even the toughest periods of the project.
