We've talked about Lara Donatoni Matana's work before, but we recently came across these amazing pieces of design she's been working with over the past years. More info and pics inside.
Decorative plate.
In case you missed our previous post on this artist, Lara Donatoni Matana works with wood leftovers from furniture manufacturers, pieces of wood found in the surroundings of Cuiaba (state of Mato Grosso), dead or burned trees to make beautiful pieces of art. And now, furniture.
A close-up on the table.
The idea behind her work is to develop a bond with the discarded pieces during the development process at her workshop, in order to conduct these trees with dozens of years and history to a new life.

That respect for the trees can be seen in how the pieces show a lot of what the tree used to be and look like, in the way that the wood is not completely alienated from the tree original shape. This creates a totally different relationship with the material in someone who buys one of these pieces.
Wood and glass table.
Lara Donatoni Matana's artistic work is being exhibited at Galeria Patricia Costa in Rio de Janeiro until December 9th.

Her furniture is sold at Casa De Arte in the city of Cuiaba, Mato Groso, Brazil. For more information on the artist and her creations, contact her through her website.
